- Mr. Harvey
Mr. Harvey Harvey, 91, of Corpus Christi, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.
He was born near Sommerset on Nov. 28, 1916. He served his country during WW II as a fighter pilot flying 150 missions, distinguishing himself as an ace, and was a member of the flight that shot down the infamous Japanese General Yamamoto. He made his living in the oil field and circled the globe twice.
He was a deacon in the church by the time he was 19 and served as Sunday school teacher, missionary, prison ministry and pastor of a church in Simons City.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae; one son, Fred Arnold; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving sibling of father and mother, Ray and Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lucy; two brothers, Joel and Gilbert; and five sisters: Ethel, Alice, Nola Fae, Georgia and Gladis.
Visitation was to be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North in San Antonio. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Mrs. Peterson
Funeral services are pending at Treviño Funeral Home for Ruth Peterson. Mrs. Peterson, 89, of Mathis, died on Thursday, in a Corpus Christi hospital.

Mrs. Ray
Patricia (Brown) Ray, 68, of Kansas City went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on August 24, 1939, in Georgetown to Reverend B.C. Brown and Frances Brown. She was a 1956 graduate of A.C. Jones High School and a 1960 graduate of Howard Payne University where she majored in Business Education. Patricia taught school in Fresno, California, and in Beeville at Thomas Jefferson Jr. High School.
In 1965 she married Harold P. Ray, whom she’d met at First Baptist Church of Beeville where her father was the pastor. From 1970 until her death, she lived in Kansas City, Missouri. Patricia spent 25 years as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Missions for the Blue River Kansas City Baptist Association and, previously, had worked as the church secretary for First Baptist Church of Grandview, Missouri.
Patricia was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Raytown, Missouri, and served in many capacities. She was a teacher in the two year old Sunday school department, a member of the choir, and a wedding coordinator for the church for over 25 years.
She is survived by her husband Harold Ray; three children: Chris and his wife Brenda of California, Greg and his wife Shani of Copperas Cove, and Julie Ray of Kansas City; six grandchildren: Bethany, Brittany, Ashley, Katie, Christopher, and Emily Ray; her mother Frances Brown and her brother Charles Brown.
Visitation will be held in the atrium at First Baptist Church of Raytown on May 2nd from 5-8pm with services on May 3rd at 10am at the church. Patricia will be interred at Floral Hills Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri following the service. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Raytown Wedding Ministry or Lee’s Summit Community Christian School where Julie teaches first grade.

Mrs. Robinson
Betty L. Robinson, 83, passed away on April 29, 2008. She was born on January 30, 1925 to Clarence and Mary Henry in Cadiz, Texas. She married her husband of 39 years on December 14, 1945. Betty graduated from A.C Jones High School in 1942.
She will always be remembered for her eternal kindness, generosity and her devotion to her family.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence R. “Bunny” Robinson and daughter, Linda Kay Fisher and great-grandson, Benjamin Robinson.
She is survived by her son, Bobby (Nan) Robinson; daughters, Sandra Leonard and Barbara (Mark) Hedrick; six grandchildren, Robert (Penny) Robinson, Jr., Paul (Mechelle) Fisher, Stephanie (Javier) Laubach-Pena, Matthew (Hanna) Fisher, Kristan Hedrick, and Kevin (Whitney) Leonard, Jr.; and eight great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her brothers Ray Henry of Beeville, David Henry of Houston, her sisters Aileen Owen, Alma (Robert) Doubrava of Beeville and Mary Lea (John Wayne) Johnson of Kingsland.
Pallbearers will be Robert Robinson, Jr., Paul Fisher, Matthew Fisher, Sean Amrich, Rick Webb, and Michael Owen.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. family will receive friends between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at Seaside Chapel on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made out to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mrs. Sciba
Mrs. Mabel Lucille Sciba, 89, of Beeville, died on Friday, April 25, 2008.
She was born in Sherman on April 20, 1919, to Oda M. Wesson and Willie Eugene Freasier. She married Welby Joe Sciba in Swinney Switch on Sept. 1, 1937. She worked for Bonhams for five years and then for Zimmer Floral for 12 years as a designer. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Jan. 16, 1988, and two brothers, Russell Boyd Johnson and Billy Paul Freasier.
Survivors include one daughter, Juanita Rathke of Goliad, two sons, Joe Eugene (Jeanette) Sciba of Florida and Kenneth (Nancy) Sciba of Beeville; one brother, Kenneth Freasier of George West; one sister, Lena Mae Haney of Cadiz; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Galloway & Sons chapel. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cadiz Baptist Church in the Cadiz community with Rev. R.C. Jeanes officiating. Interment followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Reagan Tindol, Charles Ford, Larry Lee, Scott Stevens, Dennis Stephenson and Johnny Bass. Honorary pallbearer was Leon Svetlik.
