- Mr. Caron
August E. Caron Jr., 80, of George West, died on Sunday, March 30, 2008.
He was born Aug. 21, 1927, in George West to Reva Lee Salmon and August E. Caron Sr. He married Gretchen Schmidt in Live Oak County on May 10, 1963. He served as mayor of George West since 1987 and was a retired engineering technician. He was a member of the George West Lions Club, Masonic Lodge of George West, Sons of the American Revolution-George West Chapter and First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, wife and one brother, Albert Lee Caron, in 1999.
He is survived by one daughter, Suzette Bellows and husband Roger of George West; one son, Christopher Caron of Alice; three grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler and Ryan Bellows; his mother, Reva Caron of George West; one brother, Hershall Caron of George West; and one sister, Helen Probst of Wichita Falls.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at First United Methodist Church in George West with Rev. Douglas A. Hinchcliff officiating. Interment followed in George West Cemetery.

Mrs. Chesnutt
Ollie Gertrude Chesnutt, 84, of Beeville, died on Friday, March 28, 2008.
She was born on Feb. 10, 1924, in Cadiz to Maude Catherine Wilson and Elmer Filmore Chesnutt. She married William Sterling Chesnutt in Harlingen on Dec. 3, 1944. She was a retired teller from First National Bank and Harlingen National Bank. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of a music group which played at nursing homes and senior citizens centers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Nancy Cude; and one grandson, David Sterling Tucker.
She is survived by her husband, William Sterling Chesnutt of Beeville; one daughter, Patsy Lynn (Shannon) Tucker of Buena Vista, Colo.; three grandchildren, Laura Catherine Tucker, Ellen Marie Tucker and Sallie Jane Tucker; one brother, Fred Chesnutt of Cadiz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Galloway & Sons Chapel. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Cemetery. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Cadiz Baptist Church.

Mr. DeLuna
Genelle Ray “Rocky” DeLuna, 31, of San Antonio, died on Thursday, March 27, 2008.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1977, in Beeville to Ernesto and Anita Salazar DeLuna. He was an honor graduate of A.C. Jones High School and was the first student to win state in the Academic Decathlon. He married Diane Fuentes in San Antonio on July 22, 2007.
He worked for the civil service at Randolph Air Force Base and was a proud U.S. Marine who served three tours of duty in Iraq. He was a member of the San Antonio Rodeo Association and Stock Show, the VFW, and played bass guitar for the Dark Apathy Band.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua DeLuna.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Fuentes of San Antonio; one daughter, Selena Stoltenburg of Fort Dodge, Iowa; two sons, Gosiah and Azariah DeLuna, both of Universal City; his parents, Ernesto and Anita DeLuna of Beeville; one brother, Ernesto (Lisa) DeLuna Jr. of Del Rio; one sister, Nadia (Jesse) Matteson of New Bern, N.C.; his maternal grandmother, Trinidad Salazar of Beeville; and his paternal grandfather, Esteban DeLuna of Beeville.
Visitation was held from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary recited there at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were John Treviño, Arturo Mendez, Armando Salazar, Christopher Barker, Gabriel Garcia, Martin Salazar, Billy Barker and Rachelle Rivas.

Mr. Maywald
Gary Franklin Maywald, 51, of Three Rivers, died on Friday, March 28, 2008.
He was born Jan. 14, 1957, in Houston to Voilenia Fox and Joseph Blake Maywald Jr. He married Jan Draper in Live Oak County on Nov. 19, 2004. He was in the oilfield business many years, including his own company of Time Technical Service. He enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting and playing ball.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Maywald of Three Rivers; four sons, Blake, Brett, Allan and Evan; one daughter, Crystal; his parents, Joseph and Voilenia Maywald; two brothers, Donald (Lauri) Maywald and Randy (Mary) Maywald; two sisters, Judi (Keaton) Schwenke and Becky (Curtis Dowdell) Thompson; grandmother, Elizabeth Maywald; and numerous other family members.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers, with a rosary to be recited there at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be celebrated there at 1 p.m. Thursday with Father Ryszard Zielinski officiating.
Memorials may be sent to First State Bank of Three Rivers for Gary’s Tree Fund.
