Funeral services are pending at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home for Magnus O. Beck. Mr. Beck, 90, died on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

Mr. Garcia
David M. Garcia Sr., 73, of Beeville died on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008.
He was born to Santos and Maria Martinez Garcia on Nov. 2, 1934, in Beeville. He married Rosenda Saenz in Beeville on Feb. 9, 1953. He was retired from the civil service and NAS Chase Field and was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Rosenda S. Garcia of Beeville; one son, David (Nora) Garcia Jr. of Beeville; five daughters, Martha Lopez of Port O’Connor, Irma (Julian) Hernandez, Sylvia (Samuel) Segovia and Herlinda (Abraham) Orozco, all of Beeville, and Patricia (John) Vana of Oak Park, Wash.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Oscar, Manuel and Rudy Garcia, all of Beeville, Santos Garcia of Corpus Christi and Larry Garcia of San Antonio; and one sister, Elida Flores of Beeville.
Visitation was to be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited there at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery in the Clareville community.
Pallbearers will be David Garcia III, Robert Lopez Jr., Christian Vana, Abraham Orozco Jr., David Anthony Orozco and Ruben Tercero.

Mrs. Hardwick
Julie Chapman Hardwick, 43, of George West, died on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008.
She was born June 2, 1965, to Diana Kile and Jefferson Chapman in Seguin. She graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1983 and from Texas A&M University in 1987. On Aug. 15, 1987, she married Harvey Hardwick in Beeville. She was a Sunday school teacher, chairman trustee and member of First United Methodist Church of George West. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at Texas A&M and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Hardwick of George West; one son, Jeffrey William Hardwick of George West; one daughter, Megan Elizabeth Hardwick of George West; her parents, Jeff and Diana Chapman of Beeville; grandfather, Jim Chapman of Karnes City; grandmother, Mary Kile of Cleveland, Tenn.; two sisters, Lisa Chapman Addison of Beeville and Leslie Chapman (Michael) Vandeveer of Cuero; father-in-law, Bill Hardwick of George West; three nieces, Ellen Addison, Lillie Vandeveer and Emily Hardwick; and two nephews, Tom Vandeveer and Christopher Hardwick.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Galloway & Sons chapel in George West. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in George West with Rev. Douglas A. Hinchcliff and Rev. Eugene Davis officiating. Special music was provided by organist Nancy McKinney and singers Jody Sullivan and Tim Megason. Interment followed at George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brannon Brooke, George White, Paul Dirks, Russell Becker, Robert Wasicek, Harry Wright, Pat James and Ismaro Cardenas.

Mrs. Hollis
Mabyl Eugenie Warren Hollis, 96, of Beeville, died on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008.
She was born Sept. 16, 1911, in Tilden, to William Thomas and Clarice Louise Goff Walker. She attended 16 years of school and became a teacher and administrator of education. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Beeville. She married Gerald Hollis in 1973.
She was preceded in death in 1956 by her first husband, Guy Emerson Warren.
She is survived by one daughter, Grace Alice Warren Valle MD, of Newton Center, Mass.; granddaughter, Alissa Clair Valle Trudeau; two great-grandsons; two stepsons, Robert Hollis of Greenville, S.C., and Bryan Hollis of Longview; several stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was to be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Galloway & Sons chapel with the family present from 9 to 11 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Mission Park South in San Antonio at 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Mac Robinson officiating.

Mrs. Mullins
Thelma Dean Mullins, age 90, of Rockport, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in
Aransas Pass, Texas.
She was born to Ralph and Tena Fregia on August 5, 1918 in Batson, Texas. Thelma has been a resident of Rockport since 1987. Prior to that she was a long-time resident of Beeville, Texas. Thelma has always been an active Christian with an optimistic and outgoing personality. At an early age she knew that she wanted to be a teacher and was active in the education field for her entire adult life.
She majored in education with a bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne University and a master’s degree from Idaho State University. Thelma retired in 1983 after teaching for 37 years of which 27 of those years was teaching 7th and 8th graders at Thomas Jefferson Junior High in Beeville. Even upon retiring Thelma stayed active in the teaching field by teaching Sunday School classes at Coastal Oaks Baptist Church in Rockport and English as a second language to the Rockport community.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Luther Mullins. She is also preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Ralph (J. R.) Fregia of Ft. Worth, Texas, and three sisters; Jimmie A. May and Helen Marie Davis of Beaumont, Texas; and Genevieve Maxine McNew of Nocona, Texas.
Thelma is survived by her son H. Lloyd Mullins and his wife, Linda of Aransas Pass; two grandchildren; H. Lane Mullins and his wife, Janis of Leander, Texas; and Larissa J. Johnson and her husband, Jay of Pflugerville, Texas. She is also survived by two brothers and a sister; Herbert N. Fregia of Marrero, Louisiana; Roger H. Fregia and his wife, Peggy of Little Rock, Arkansas; Barbara J. Ellis of Longview, Texas. Thelma is also survived by her long-time caregiver, Margaret Lott of Aransas Pass, Texas.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home – Aransas Pass. The family will be present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday to receive friends at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marshall Johnston officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday afternoon at the Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery in Beeville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made by memorial contributions to the South Texas Children’s Home, P. O. Box 1210, Beeville, Texas 78104-9984.
